The Adventures of an Extraordinary Visit to Thailand @ the Browns Valley Public Library

Sharing slides and artifacts, Arlene Billberg discusses her two-week stay with the family of Dow Romphopak Storey in Spring 2024. Storey, originally from Thailand and now a restauranteur in the Grand Forks area, introduced Billberg to daily life in Chom Thong district in Chiang Mai province in northwest Thailand.

Outside of the home of her hosts, Billberg’s adventures included celebrating the Buddhist new year, touring temples, visiting the long-necked people, swimming with the elephants, and taking a banana boat ride to Laos.
