Beyond the North Shore: Iron, Timber & Tales of Northeast Minnesota at the Browns Valley Public Library

Through photos and stories, photographer and author Jay Grammond ventures inland to explore the iron ranges, logging camps, back roads, and small towns that shaped the region’s identity. Through photographs, historic research, and little-known stories, he reveals how iron mining, timber harvesting, indigenous peoples, and early exploration left lasting marks on the land and its people.

This program is sponsored by Browns Valley Public Library and Viking Library System, funded in part or in whole with monies from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
