MNLINK: Minnesota Interlibrary Loan
If you have checked the Viking Library System catalog and don't find the item you are looking for, try MNLINK, a one-search option that checks public and academic library catalogs throughout the state. Many materials can be requested and delivered to your local public library or Bookmobile for free. Be sure to allow time for delivery.
- Click here or the MNLINK icon on the right to search for the item you are looking for. An "Advanced Search" allows you to limit your search to designate a specific format (such as Large Print or Audiobook), publication year(s), and language, for example.
- When you find the item you want to request from MNLINK, click the "Request Item" button below the title listed on the right side of the screen.
- On the Login page:
User ID = Type your Viking Library System patron barcode.
Password = Leave blank.
Authentication Service = Choose Viking Library System from dropdown menu.
- Near the top of the form, you must choose the Pickup Location within Viking Library System so we know where the item needs to go when it comes into our office. This is very important.
- You can track the progress of your requests. From the MNLINK home page, click "Login" in the upper right corner. On the next page, select "My Requests" from the options on the left, then fill in your Viking Library System patron barcode and select the Authentication Service (Viking Library System).
Please note: There are libraries in Minnesota, including some in Viking Library System, that do not lend such items as current bestsellers or DVDs. The VLS catalog should give you an immediate message that the item is not available, but MNLINK will not.
If you have questions, please contact VLS at 218/739-5286, or email Gail Nordstrom.
